We celebrated Oliver’s 4th birthday a couple of weeks ago. At the time I was tense, in fact I was holding my breath. Last week’s breakaway was exactly what I needed to deflate and in the process I got terribly emotional.
I don’t want to write about cliches and the things we hold on to because we don’t know how to cope with life – but I believe in destiny and I believe in purpose. And I am so privileged to be a part of this little guy’s life!
Oliver’s favourite things at 4
Favourite TV Characters:
Oliver loves Tom & Jerry and the latest addition is the animated Mr Bean. Also, he really likes any animated film at the moment.
Friends at school:
Tori and Xander. Although he punched Xander in the face. I was mortified! Luckily Xander’s mom was cool about it.
Juffrou Hani (Johani)
Favourite things to do at home:
Sit on the dogs, pull the dogs’s ears, riding bicycle
Loves singing! Adores singing! His still sings “Let is Go” all the time
Words I love when he says them:
Oliver rolls his R’s – in a beautiful way! He also says things like “Mamma, ek is lief ge-jou” instead of “Mamma, ek is lief vir jou”. It is all in the little things. I love it!
Any jumper with a zip and preferably a hood. Shoes! This child has a thing for shoes!
Birthday cake theme:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But it had to be the real thing – none of these animated drawings!
How do you celebrate birthdays in your family? Is there a special birthday ritual?
