This morning I woke up to a wonderful little advert posted in social media. It is the new Barbie advert and the message is crystal clear – Imagine the possibilities & You can be ANYTHING!
I remember a time when I believed I could be anything! I am kind of naive in that way. Couple that with the fact that I am a big believer in purpose and destiny and you get a laughing spectacle! Kind of like a Noah building a big arch in the middle of the desert. Kind of like the idea of unicorns!
Perhaps that is another reason why this ad was so inspirational to me?
Limitations and why they shouldn’t be a barrier
I’ve always been a bit overweight. I have always had a bold ambition that would push me to do something that traditionally wouldn’t be possible for a person of my caliber. Sort of like signing up for a martial art that requires full acrobatic movement and superwoman strength.
In high school I decided / I felt that my purpose was in dance ministry. I was very determined to follow the traditional route of qualifying in a dance school and seeking out the traditional career of a dancer. Only I didn’t fit the mold.
I have buried the idea below many layers of concrete in the deepest, darkest hole in my heart and forgotten about it. Only I have not forgotten. I have been reminder of the dream. I have been prodded to think about it. Luckily with years comes perspective.
I know I will never be the traditional dancer. And I know I don’t want to a traditional dancer anymore. I know movement inspires me. Becoming fit, healthy and whole is a goal I will strive for with everything in me.
I can be ANYTHING!
I know that I have the ability to inspire, motivate and cheer on other woman to be healthier and happier versions of themselves. My idea isn’t a fully formed idea as yet. But the dream is much closer than I could have thought or imagine. It is something I can work towards.
Finally I there is a part of me that can realistically say – I can be anything!
