On the 28th of November, we celebrated Oliver’s pre-primary graduation. I’m not one to get overly emotional about these kinds of things but browsing through old photos last night made me a little nostalgic!
How did I go from this little munchkin…
To this shy little boy on his first day of school in 2017…
To a cool and confident little boy at his graduation a couple of weeks ago?
It is such a privilege to be a parent and to walk alongside a little life as they experience life’s ups and downs.
Oliver’s Pre-Primary Graduation
The morning of the graduation, Oliver got dressed in his graduation outfit, which to him seemed like a dress. And why should he have to wear a dress? Getting him to go to his classroom without being noticed with the said dress, was a challenge. This was until he saw his fellow classmates and realised how prestigious it was!
After a welcome announcement by the primary school headmaster and a little story about never giving up, from the pre-primary headmistress, the kids we off! As every child bravely walked over the stage, the parents were told what the child hoped to be when they grow up!
There were loads of policemen, doctors and all sorts in between. When it was Oliver’s turn, we were told he hopes to become a person who sells houses! (Because they make lots of money!)
As soon as they collected their certificates, the kids were asked to sit on the stage until all graduates had received their certificates.
My favourite part of the whole morning was when Oliver spotted me in the crowd. He knew where I was sitting when he walked into the school hall. But once he sat on the stage, I got up to capture the moment at a perfect angle. His little face shone with pride and so did my momma-heart!
I am so proud of this little boy and how he has grown emotionally throughout the year. It’s been a tough year and he handled it like a champ! Here’s one last picture of Oli in his rugby gear.
2017 – You’ve been good to my boy! Cheers to a prosperous and exciting Grade 1 year next year.
